Burglary protection is becoming increasingly important: there are around 100 burglaries a day in Switzerland - and the trend is rising. Find out how burglars operate and what measures really protect your home.
"They ate chocolates before they left again."
This statement does not come from a crime novel - but from a real burglary victim.
In the SRF report on rising burglary crime in Switzerland, a couple tell how thieves ransacked their entire house. Every cupboard, every drawer opened. Money and jewelry worth CHF 100,000 stolen. And as if that wasn't brazen enough, the perpetrators took a leisurely break at the dining table.
โ
๐จ In 2023, there were almost 30,000 burglaries - not including sneak-ins.
๐จ The perpetrators now strike around the clock - even during the day when someone is at home.
๐จ The clearance rate? Only 18%.
โ
According to a former burglar, it takes less than 2 minutes to break into unsecured windows or doors. Anyone who doesn't get into the house during this time will usually abandon the break-in attempt.

๐ Good security measures = burglary protection!
๐ A secure home is often reason enough to deter perpetrators.
๐ Safety is not a question of luck - but of preparation!
